Luxury Car Tax Limit

The Australian Taxation Office announced in June 2010 that the luxury car tax threshold has been raised to $57,466 for the 2010/2011 financial year.

Any passenger vehicle* with a value, including GST, above this threshold is subject to luxury car tax and cannot be leased through the government motor vehicle leasing facility.

*The limit applies to passenger vehicles designed to carry a load of less than two tonnes and fewer than nine passengers, including station wagons and four-wheel drive vehicles.
