Odometer Readings

It's all in the numbers…

Odometer readings probably don't mean much to the drivers of your vehicles.

The truth is though, accurate reporting of odometer readings is vital to the efficient running of a vehicle fleet. Without accurate and timely collection of these figures it is difficult to predict when a vehicle should be replaced or serviced and nearly impossible to keep track of the vehicle's true cost to your organisation.

Fuel consumption and running cost reports can only be as accurate as the odometer readings provided. Odometer readings provide the basis for a wide range of reports including the annual GEMP report and motor vehicle FBT liability. It is important to regularly remind drivers of the need to provide exact odometer readings at each fuel fill, "guessed" or "rounded off" readings will only result in inaccurate reporting and poor cost control.
